The Trinidad and Tobago Chapter of the UWI Guild of Graduates was re-activated in 1988 on the instigation of the then Head of Student Advisory Services, Mr. Victor Cowan.

On November 26th, 1988, eight (8) UWI Alumni gathered at the office of the Head of Student Advisory Services to re-establish the Trinidad and Tobago Chapter of the UWI Guild of Graduates. At that first meeting Mr. Ulric Warner was elected the first President of the re-activated Chapter.

In October 2003 the Guild of Graduates was re-branded the UWI Alumni Association the name under which it operates today.
